Contra Costa supervisors ratify ’emergency’ to gain repair dollars

MARTINEZ — Contra Costa County officials on Thu ratified their Jan. nineteen declaration of a “local emergency” following recent rain and wind storms, which, along with the state’s declaration Mon of a state of emergency, puts the county and its cities and towns in position to get federal recovery money.

A raging Pinole Creek took out the culvert and a chunk of Alhambra Valley Road with it; there is no estimated date for the road to reopen. Caltrans and county officials are working on a joint plan to make repairs.
